Explore the ancient world with us!
We love the ancient world, and we love being able to share our enthusiasm for it with schools, students, and community groups across our beautiful North East region – and now, thanks to Zoom, much further afield! Our outreach team work on a number of curricular and extra-curricular projects during the year, and can help with creating resources, running workshops, or just linking you up with an expert for a talk on your latest study topic.
We joined Classics for All in 2020, proudly representing the Tyneside area as part of their North East regional network. With their help and expertise, we support Primary and Secondary schools to begin their classical journey!
Our Romans on the Tyne outreach project is supported by the Classical Association, with additional funding through the University’s Engagement & Place strategy. We’ve also received support from The Landmark Trust as part of their Landmark Futures programme.
Here at Newcastle, we’ve been teaching Classics and Ancient History in one way or another for the past 150 years. We’re part of the School of History, Classics and Archaeology, and our interdisciplinary approach enables us to explore the ancient world in new – and ever expanding! – ways.
