Over the February half-term we were joined by lots of families for some ancient medical fun! To celebrate the launch of a new History of Medicine exhibition in the Galleria (Level 1), our Classics Outreach Team ran a range of activities exploring the wonderful world of ancient medicine. Weren’t able to come along on the day? Don’t worry – you can still learn how to write your name in hieroglyphs for your very own Ancient Egyptian Magical Wand, or create your own anatomical votive for the god Asclepius, using the resources below!
Ancient Egypt: Apotropaic Wand
Ancient Greece: Anatomical Votives
Asclepius was certainly pleased with all the beautiful gifts that were left for him by our enthusiastic visitors. You can find instructions below to make your own paper or clay votives – we’d love to see what you create!
